Komodo island is the spectaculer place to get your body and feeling rest. It was in Indonesia, in East Nusa Tengggara. Beside you can see the komodo life more close, you can also find more spectaculer sport, its diving or snorkling.

You can reach the Komodo island through fly from Kupang airport to Ende, Flores island, then continue your trip with minibus to Labuhanbajo, its about 10 hours, from Labuhanbajo,the speedboat will carry you to Komodo island after crrossing until 2 hour. About the Komodo Dragon.

Komodo island is located in the most western tip province of East Nusa Tenggara where adjacent with province of West Nusa Tenggara. It was on Komodo distric, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Since 1980, Indonesia government had choosen that area with 1.817 km2 to be the national park , which had recognized by UNESCO as World heritage site in 1986, with another island around it Rinca and Padar island. Finally, Komodo island and some island around it had been saved and was considered as original habitat The Komodo Dragon.

The komodo is derived from Latin language, Varanus Komodoensis, and local language, was "ora". In stories,This giant lizard had been published in 1912 on national daily Hindia Belanda newspaper. The first one who introduced the komodo dragon to the world is Peter A.Ouwens, the Zoological museum directur in Bogor. He always talking about it on his newspaper.Because of him, some expedition and experiment are always been operated on it, even this wildlife had inspirate to the "Kingkong" film production in 1933.Therefore,Indonesia government then make solution to keep the komodo dragon save, it was ban to hunt and murder that komodo dragon population.

The komodo dragon has length about 2-3 meters, and weight 70-100 kilograms.This animal like a hot and dry area, they are life at savanna or tropical forest in low altitude.At night, the komodo dragon is living in deepunderground until 1-3 meters, there is suitplace to keep them warm. As the top of food chain, the komodo dragon as usual catch and preys the others animal such as goat, deer, wild bear, and birds. In especially time, they can catch and eat their spesies themselves as the canibal. They could smell the preys until 9 kilometers. They use their venomous bite which contains of toxic and deadly bacteria and sharp paws to protect themselves. Apparantly, the komodo has capability to run 20 kilometers per hour in short-haul , not only running but also climbing, swimming, and even diving.

As the others reptil, komodo has spawn regeneration procces, although based on the experiment can prove that komodo is parthenogenesis. This methode may can make female komodo spawn without fertilized by male komodo . Parthenogenesis is considered saved the komodo from extinction since million years ago, but a destroyed habitat, vulcanic activities, earthquake, burning, until illegal hunting, was indicated decrease the komodo population up to extinction phase. It was estimated there are 4-5 thousand komodo with hundreds productif female . This condition has been challenge to The Komodo National Park conservation efforts.

It was recorded in august 2009, the number of the komodo dragon population is about 1300. Then plus Rinca and Gili Motang island, totally is 2500.
