Jog falls Karnataka India, the highest waterfalls in India, highest direct flow waterfalls in India

Jog Falls is located in the Shimoga district of the state Karnataka in India. Jog falls is created by the River Sharavathi which splits up into 4 segments and is an untiered falls, which falls down directly and do not stream onto the rocks. Jog Falls drops down from a height of 253 meters with a width of 472 meters.

All the four tracks of the Jog Water falls are named differently according to their trajectories while falling down. 
Raja, according to the name,  is digified and serene fall, 
Roarer, appears from no where, out of the mass of rocks and making a lot of roaring noise, 
Rocket shoots water from a small opening, a large volume of water, at a very high speed 
Rani or the Lady has a winding and twisting trajectory similar to the movements of a female dancer. 

Best time to visit Jog falls Best season for travelling to Jog falls will be during / after the south west monsoons when you can see a magnifient water falls in operation. At other times, that too particularly just before the onset of monsoons the Falls will be just a pair of thin streams trickling down because of the Linganmakki Dam across the river. The Dam gets opened only in the weekends when there are lots of tourists coming in. 

How to Reach Jog Falls
So, the best time to travel to Jog falls will be from August to December. The Jog Falls is situated at abot 380 kilometers from Bangalore. You can reach either Bangalore International Airport or Hubli and Mangalore Domestic airports. Hubli is the nearest at about 150 kilometers away and Mangalore comes next with 230 kilometers.
Shivmogga is the nearest Railway station and you can take the bus from there to jog falls to save time. While travelling by Road from either Mumbai or bangalore you can take national highway 206 to reach Sagara, From Sagara it is only 30 kilometers from Jog Falls. 
The best way would be to reach Hubli by flight and then travel the remaining 150 kilometers by Road Transport.
